Welcome to Studio ISO — a modern coastal hideaway crafted from shipping containers and overlooking Sargeant Bay.

Intimate and architectural, ISO invites you to slow down and take in forest, sky, and sea. However you arrived, we hope you’ve found what you were in search of.

These times allow us to prepare Studio ISO carefully for incoming guests and attend to any required maintenance.

Mapping apps may show incorrect routing for the final stretch.  Written directions sent before arrival remain the best reference for the last kilometre.

The access road is gravel and single lane. Please drive slowly and steadily.

Studio ISO is the first accommodation you come upon, surrounded by a corten & wood fence and trees.

Entry

Studio ISO uses a coded entry lock. Your access code will be sent prior to arrival.

Parking

A single parking space is available beside StudioISO. Additional space is available on the other side of Studio ISO at the top of the paved driveway if required.

EV Charging

There is a regular 15 amp plug in and also a 40 amp breaker with NEMA plug on the power pole in the parking area above the paved driveway. Bring your own adapter if necessary.

We have a level 2 charger at the Pointhouse. Please ask about availability during your stay.

House Policies

Pets

Dogs are permitted on a limited, pre-approved basis in Studio ISO.

The main Pointhouse is pet-free in consideration of guests with allergies. By bringing a pet, guests confirm they have read and agreed to the full pet policy.

Visitors & Overnight Guests

Only registered guests are permitted on the property unless prior notice has been given.

Please let us know if you plan to have visitors. Overnight guests, if approved, are charged $45 per person, per night. Events and unregistered gatherings are not permitted.

Smoking

All Pointhouse accommodations are strictly non-smoking, indoors and outdoors.

A cleaning penalty will be assessed for breach of this condition.

Quiet Hours

Outdoor quiet hours are 9:00 pm to 9:00 am. Sound carries easily over water, and we ask guests to be mindful of neighbours and other guests.

Climate Control

The gas fireplace is the main heat source for Studio ISo. The bathroom has in-floor radiant heat for  extra warmth and there is an electric baseboard and portable oil heater to help keep spaces comfortable.

A ceiling fan circulates air. Controls on the wall. Opening windows for cross ventilation will also help keep temperatures cool in the summer.

Cell Coverage

Cell coverage on the Sunshine Coast can be variable. For best mobile performance, we recommend enabling Wi-Fi calling on your phone.

Television & Streaming

StudioISO is equipped with Optik TV. Streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube are available via TV apps.

If you sign into personal accounts, please remember to log out before departure.

Cooking

StudioISO is equipped with a 24″Induction cooktop with 4 burners with 24″ speed oven below-a combination of microwave and convection.

There must be a pan on the element for the stovetop to operate.

Oven must never be operated with nothing inside or it may damage the unit.

Guest Services

Spa & Wellness Services

Massage, yoga, and other wellness treatments can be arranged during your stay, either in the privacy of Studio ISO or in dedicated garden spaces.
Advance booking is strongly recommended.

Breakfast at the Pointhouse (Optional)

Aerie guests may add-on breakfast  at the Pointhouse subject to availability and advance arrangements.

Breakfast is served at a pre-arranged time between 8:00 and 10:00 am. Dietary preferences and allergies can be accommodated with notice.

Housekeeping & Linen Exchange (Optional)

The Aerie operates as a self-contained accommodation. Bedding and towels are changed at the end of your stay unless otherwise requested. Additional housekeeping can be arranged for a fee.

Lido Spa

The Lido Spa is a Nordic-inspired waterfront spa featuring hot, cold, and rest areas set within garden surroundings.

The spa operates independently from accommodations and requires advance booking.

Outdoor Amenities

Hot Tub

A private  hot tub is located on the patio overlooking the ocean cove.

  • Shower before use
  • Use flip flops to avoid tracking in debris with bare feet
  • Use the skimmer to remove leaves or needles
  • Leave the bromine floater in the tub at all times

The system is programmed for optimal operation. Please use jets and lights only. Contact us if adjustments are needed.

BBQ

A gas BBQ is provided. Gas is plumbed in- no tank. Please clean the grill and utensils after use and ensure gas is turned off at both the BBQ and deck box to avoid attracting wildlife.

Wood-burning Firepit

Firewood, kindling and newspapers are provided in season.

There is plenty of dry wood in the woodshed at the top of the driveway.

  • Use a layer of paper followed be a couple of layers of kindling
  • Add some smaller pieces of wood
  • Light the paper and keep the stove door open bit to get a good draft
  • When the fire is going well close the door
  • Use the draft lever on the bottom of the fireplace to adjust the flame
  • On your last fire burn the wood as fully down to ash as you can

Beach fires are not permitted.

Gardens

There are some culinary herbs in the bed near the hot tub and edible berries throughout the landscape.

Beach & Surroundings

Beach Access

Aerie guests may access the beach via the marked trail between the greenhouse and the shipping container at the bottom of the driveway (identified by red/orange buoys).

Other waterfront areas, including the point rock, decks, dock and spa gardens surrounding the main Pointhouse are reserved for B&B and Lido Spa guests.

Private Waterfront Areas

The paths, natural rock features, waterfront decks, dock and gardens surrounding the Pointhouse itself are reserved for guests staying there and  who  Lido Spa guests.

Please enquire about a property tour if you would like to see those areas or book in for an oceanfront breakfast if available.

Trails

Sargeant Bay Provincial Park is basically next door. There is a public beach access adjacent to our neighbours at 7777 Kenyon. The park offers remarkable diversity and habitat for nature appreciation, recreation, and conservation.

Waterfront Safety

Rocky and log-jammed shoreline areas can be slippery, especially when wet. Please proceed with caution.

Rural Property Systems & Environmental Stewardship

Septic System

All accommodations on the Pointhouse estate share one septic system.

Flush toilet paper only. A bin is provided for feminine products, wipes, tissues, and paper towels. Please follow posted signage. Careful use prevents costly and disruptive failures.

Garbage

Garbage is collected every two weeks (Wednesday).

Please place only non-recyclable, non-compostable items in the garbage. All food attractants must be secured between pickups in the wildlife-resistant shipping container near the beach path.

Compost

Compost is collected weekly.

Food scraps, fish bones, and soft shell items may be included. Seafood shells (crab, prawn, oyster) may be returned to the sea. Please avoid contamination.

Recycling (Handled by Hosts)

Recycling is sorted and transported by your hosts to the community recycling centre.

Please rinse containers and remove food residue. Food-contaminated items are rejected at the depot and must be re-sorted by hand.

Water

Fresh water comes from reservoirs with limited capacity. Conservation is always encouraged especially in our dry summer months with additional measures sometimes required if drought conditions persist for extended periods or seasons. Please use water thoughtfully.

Wildlife Awareness

This is an active wildlife area. Bears, deer, raccoons, coyotes, cougars, otters, bobcats, and eagles are commonly present.

Wildlife and pets do not mix. Please supervise children and pets and avoid leaving food or attractants outdoors.

Sunscreen & Bug Repellant

Many sunscreens and bug repellents are harmful or toxic to the environment. Please consider using environmentally friendly brands, or alternative methods for prevention such as covering up (i.e. wearing a hat or long sleeves) or limiting exposure to stop the use of these products.

Local Essentials

Groceries & Supplies

Several grocery options are available in Sechelt, including Clayton’s and Independent. Welcome Woods Market in Halfmoon Bay (approximately five minutes away) offers groceries, deli items, and beer/wine/liquor. The historic Halfmoon Bay General Store & Cafe also serves hot beverages, sandwiches as well as a good selection of groceries, frozen foods, local beer/cider/liquorand deli items

Restaurants

Dining options range from casual to destination restaurants along the Sunshine Coast. Hours can be seasonal.

Activities & Area Attractions

The Sunshine Coast offers forest walks, beachcombing, paddling, cycling, hiking, and seasonal wildlife viewing. Kayaks and paddlecraft can be rented locally or brought by guests.

Emergencies & Safety

Power Outages

Storms can occasionally interrupt power. Studio ISO does not have a backup generator but we do have one for the main Pointhouse.

Flashlights, lanterns and candles are provided. Fireplace may be used for warmth. In-floor heating retains heat for an extended period.

Fire Safety

Smoke detectors are installed throughout. Fire extinguisher is located in the entry closet.

Use caution with fireplaces and candles. In case of fire, exit immediately, call 911, and notify us.

Medical Assistance

A first aid kit is available in Studio ISo. For urgent needs, call 911. We can assist with directions to local medical services.

Exterior Lighting

Motion-sensitive and low-level lighting is installed throughout the property for safety and navigation at night.
