Glacial action carved the steep sided fjords that penetrate the Sunshine Coast.Tour commentaries highlight the natural, cultural and political history of areas along this 30 mile trip. At the entrance to Princess Louisa Inlet is Young Life’s Malibu Club. Begun in the 1930’s by Tom Hamilton, his “Malibu Club in Canada” was intended to be a luxury resort for movie stars. By the early 50’s the project was abandoned and Young Life purchased the camp. Every year since then a summer program has been operated at this spectacular retreat. You’ll get a good overview of the site passing slowly through the Malibu rapids entering Princess Louisa Inlet.

The Inlet terminates at Chatterbox falls where you can go ashore at the Provincial Park. The park was once the homestead of James MacDonald who grew to think of himself more as a caretaker than an owner. For greatest public benefit ownership was passed from Mac to the society he created, and then to the Province of British Columbia as Princess Louisa Marine Park.

Sechelt Scenic
