The latest Pointhouse project is Studio ISO, another light-filled glass box in the forest. Two standard 8*20′ shipping containers sandwich a taller timber-framed area. Discreet slot windows punctuate the seacans while full height glazing frames beautiful ocean views. Intended as a flexible space for exercise, art, dance, massage, or yoga it is also a fully equipped self-catering guest suite.

With 592 sq ft on the main floor and a small loft/mezzanine accessed by a ladder above, Studio ISO could be considered a true tiny home. Sporting a full complement of integrated compact appliances including fridge/freezer, induction stove, combination convection/microwave oven and dishwasher plus clever small space storage solutions, the kitchen is as beautiful as it is functional. There is even a washer/dryer tucked into the entry closet. 

Disguised behind a large mirror, a queen Murphy bed provides comfortable sleeping space on the main floor yet quickly folds away for space during the day. Minimal and adaptable furnishings allow multi-purpose use of the studio. The mezzanine/loft is outfitted with a second sofa, soft furnishings, desk and smart TV to offer additional work or lounging space as well as a different perspective on interior and exterior views.

A feature gas fireplace provides ambience and helps heat the whole space. In floor heating supplies extra warmth for tootsies throughout the bathroom and shower. A ceiling fan, cross ventilation and other passive solar features also assist with heating and cooling.

Along with extensive glazing, reflective surfaces to bounce light, and entrancing  views, an undulating steel and cedar fence encloses a private courtyard to expand the sense of space. The custom design incorporates the corrugated  panels removed during the container construction and locally milled lumber. An outdoor hot tub surrounded by nature is a perfect place to soak away stress. To make al fresco grilling and dining a breeze the propane BBQ is plumbed in and enjoys a pass-through window to the kitchen.

Situated to take advantage of ocean views, additional landscaping, screening and orientation to an arbutus studded glen have been carefully considered to protect the privacy of the location. Easy beach access to Sargeant Bay.
